Farr 40 mast repair

White Knight's mast at Driscoll's boatyard for repair and maintenance. While the mast was out of the boat, the damaged luff groove was repaired with epoxy and colloidal silica and carbon fiber. Other concerns were that the mast jack holes were damaged, a spectacle need to be installed and a complete inspection of the rigging was due. The jacking holes were repaired using 1" thick G10 machined to fit our dimensions by Steve Harrison. During the inspection, a cracked spreader was discovered and repaired, a damaged spreaderbar hole was discovered and repaired, spreaderbar liner rings were reinforced with additional mounting tabs, a worn area where the mainsail's headboard was grinding in to the carbon fiber was repaired with kevlar and carbon fiber cloth. The gooseneck and boom vang knuckles were removed, sandblasted, and inspected. New bushings were installed to ensure smooth operation, and reinstalled to meet the customer's deadline. New parts will be ordered and installed in the near future. During reassembly, the mast was polished and teflon coated, new trim stripes for the spreaders measured and applied, masthead wiring cleaned up and everything put in order.
